My partner and I have been team teaching for three years.  WE truly team--have a double room with 60 seventh graders and we teach together for most of the day.  We think its the best thing we've done in our combined 35 years of teaching and are writing a book about the subject.  How many of you would be interested in reading about how we do this?  We are wondering if we have a marketable subject.

  40. I do a push-in resource room program(part of special education). I spend 80 minutes a day in each of two classrooms. Both regular ed. teachers and myself team teach. We have been doing it for 6 years, grade 4. We think it's great. We don't have enough planning time. Hope this helps. J3XS

  53. I am team teaching in a 3/4 for first year with another new teacher.  We have to adminster teh ep and Espet tests for NYS, but do not train until February.  Wondering what to cover with students to be sure they are ready.  No one at school knows, old teachers gone. Help!?

  60. Hi! I am a special education teacher who has teamed with a 3-3-4-4 team for almost 8 years.
  61. For the Gr. 3 Reading PEP begin by practicing cloze rdg strategies with your students. There are some practice PEP materials available.  For Gr. 3 Math PEP students will be required to perform most 3rd grade calculations as well as application skills - graphing, interpreting numeration charts, probability, patterns, word problems, a little time, money ....
  62.     The ESPET in 4th grade is designed to evaluate program strengths/weaknesses and is not a student assessment like the 3rd grade tests.  The Sci has 2 parts - one is a hefty objective format which requires students to read and interpret the paragraphs as well as charts/tables.  Although content is stressed, a student strong in study skills could infer much and do a good job. The next part is a hands-on lab made up of 5 stations - last year we had classification (practice with beans, buttons, or different kinds of screws), properties of water, electricity (kids need to make a complete circuit with materials and tell which are conductors/nonconductors), measurement (use of thermometer to read air/water temp within 2 degrees accuracy, find mass using balance scale, find volume of a liquid) and the last was a mystery box ( kids had to describe properties of 2 objects in a taped box and compare them to objects they were given and could see).  Hope this helps.  Holler if you need more info.

We are a team of Home Ec, Tech, Science, Social Studies and Math working with 7th and 8th graders.  We are trying to plan a unit based upon recycling and would appreciate any ideas anyone might have for us.  This is the first attempt ever at teaming at my school.  Although I have worked on a team before, I have never set one up, any suggestions there would be helpful too.  Especially related to how do we sell it to all the teachers "that have been teaching the same way for x years!!!"  Send it to JacJeanne@aol.com.  Thanks in advance!

I have 24 years of teaching experience both as a regular education teacher and as a special education teacher.  I have integrated many special education students succeccfully into the mainstream.  Special students included hearing impaired, learning disabled, visually impaired. emptionally disturbed. ADHD, physically impaired (spina bifada), and gifted. I am anxious to share my experience.  I am also looking for ways to divide these students among teachers so that heterogenes grouping is maintained.  I currently work in a 3 teacher model, 2 regular ed. teachers and I am the special ed resource teacher.  All the top 3% of our 6th grade population is in an Dadvanced core.  We would like to change next year so that my advanced Ld students can also be in the advanced core but not have to be on two teams.  Any suggestions?

I am a first grade teacher and we are also considering team teaching next year.  I would also like to know of any teachers who have tried team teaching at this level and if there is any research that supports team teaching at the first grade level.  We are going to present our ideas to the principal on 2/20/96.
